• The society "Origami Deutschland" was founded in January 1989 in Freising (Bavaria, Germany). The founding members were: Paulo Mulatinho (chairman, former Honorary President, resigned from the society in 2005), Axel Reissnecker (vice-chairman), Sabine Hagl (treasurer), Andrea Link (secretary), Ulla Bahadir, Silke Schröder, Victoria Schubert and Dagmar Wittmann.
• The society met regularly in Freising and, desirous of spreading origami in Germany, soon gave birth to new groups in various regions in Germany as well as built up a lively exchange with origami societies abroad. "Origami Deutschland" today has over 600 enthusiastic members.
• At about the same time "Origami Deutschland" was founded paperfolders around René Lucio and Jan Spütz gathered together to form "Origami München". This society made its mark by regional meetings and events (paper aeroplane competitions). The society was disbanded in 2002.
